Two-inch or three-inch wood sub-purlins support roof joist purlins with exposed hangers as specified on structural drawings. R-19 insulation fills the cavity with a white scrim vapor retarder facing, such as Lamtec WMP-VR-R plus or equal, verified against mechanical plans. The facing is stapled to the side of the sub-purlins to secure the insulation, and corners are cut typically to expose the hanger.
