A sloping cant is constructed at projections into an elevator hoistway exceeding five-eighths of an inch. A five-eighths-inch gypsum board cant is sloped at a minimum seventy-five degree angle from the vertical and secured with continuous two-inch by two-inch by twenty-gauge metal angles at the top and bottom. Where the cant length exceeds twenty-four inches, two-and-one-half-inch metal studs are provided at twenty-four inches on center behind the cant. The assembly is installed adjacent to a gypsum liner panel partition as scheduled.
