This assembly consists of a structural steel column wrapped in two layers of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board supported by one-and-five-eighths-inch metal furring or approved metal column furring clips. The enclosure is designed to meet UL number X528 fire-rating requirements. Corner beads are installed at the column edges where no adjacent walls occur. Where intersecting walls meet the column, fire sealant is applied at the junction to maintain the fire-rated assembly integrity.
