Ceramic tile is adhered with a thinset mortar bed over a cementitious backer unit on a scheduled partition wall, meeting a gypsum board ceiling assembly framed at sixteen inches on center maximum. Joint sealant is applied at the vertical and horizontal intersection between the tile finish and the ceiling assembly. The partition structure continues behind the backer board with grout joints spaced throughout the tile layout.
