The Armstrong Seismic RX heavy-duty suspension system requires specific perimeter attachment details for attached and unattached walls as mandated by ICC ESR-1308. In each orthogonal horizontal direction, one end of the ceiling grid attaches rigidly to the closure angle while the other end maintains a three-quarter inch clearance from the wall to rest freely and slide within the closure angle during seismic events. Perimeter angles utilize BERC2 clips secured with tight bolts for attached walls and loose slip-track bolts for unattached walls, with vertical wire hangers spaced a maximum of eight inches from the wall. The ceiling grid system must be designed and installed in accordance with the 2019 California Building Code section 803.9.1.1.
