A 7/8-inch wall angle fastened to the wall studs supports the perimeter of the suspended acoustical ceiling. A 12-gauge suspended acoustical ceiling attachment wire is secured to the structure above and tied to the main runner. The main runner is positioned with a 3/4-inch clearance from the closure angle at the wall, maintaining an unattached condition to allow for movement. A spreader bar is installed between the main runner and the perimeter enclosure angle to maintain spacing, with a maximum distance of 8 inches from the wall. The main runner is attached to the wall angle at one end only, while the opposite end remains free to accommodate thermal or structural expansion.
