A one-and-a-half-inch diameter standard pipe handrail mounts above stair treads with specific vertical and horizontal clearances. The handrail maintains a minimum height of two feet ten inches measured vertically from the leading edge of the stair nosing. The horizontal extension projects one foot zero inches from the stair work point, with a typical handrail height of three feet zero inches. Dimension lines reference the work points and leading edges of the stair nosings to locate the rail geometry.
