A continuous twenty-two gauge three-inch deep leg deflection track secures to the underside of a concrete-filled fluted steel deck or concrete floor slab at a maximum of twelve inches on center. Mineral wool insulation fills the deck flute recesses. A continuous twenty-two gauge metal strap measuring two inches wide provides top attachment for the gypsum board studs, with the gypsum board attached to the strap at eight inches on center maximum. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in the specified clearance area to allow for structural movement. Spray-applied firestop material is applied to each side with a minimum one-half inch overlap at the gypsum board and deck. Sealant is provided at the perimeter junction.
