This shrub planting detail specifies the installation of plants originating from one-gallon or five-gallon pots into a prepared planting pit. The rootball crown is set one and one-half inches above the surrounding planting soil level, resting on four inches of compacted planting soil over a scarified subgrade. The excavated pit is backfilled with amended imported planting soil, maintaining a minimum total depth of twenty-four inches. A two-inch layer of imported wood mulch is applied across the surface while remaining four inches clear of the plant crown. The finish surface of the adjacent pavement aligns with the surrounding landscape profile.
