This isometric detail shows a type A backing track assembly for wall openings framed with double studs sized per plan at a minimum of 16 gauge. A 6-inch 16-gauge unpunched backing track is notched around the vertical studs to provide continuous support. Two number 10 flat head self-tapping metal screws fasten the backing to each stud.
