An aluminum window system interfaces with a stone veneer facade over a backup wall constructed of 16-gauge 6-inch cold-formed metal framing at 16 inches on center with 5/8-inch gypsum board sheathing. A fluid-applied air and moisture barrier covers the exterior sheathing, backed by a vapor barrier on the interior side. Self-adhering flashing and continuous sealant with backer rod provide moisture control and weather sealing at the jamb transition. Shims are placed as required between the aluminum window frame and the wall opening, which features a continuous cold-formed steel backup angle and an air space behind the stone veneer.
