The assembly consists of a one and one-half inch diameter steel pipe handrail supported by a bent rod bracket. The bracket is secured to the wall through a three-eighths by one and one-half inch escutcheon plate, which bears against fire-retardant treated wood blocking installed within the metal stud wall cavity. The handrail attaches to the bracket using set screws of appropriate size. All welds on the bent rod and bracket are ground smooth, and the edges of the one-quarter inch plate bracket are also ground smooth. A minimum clearance of one and one-half inches is maintained between the handrail and the wall surface. Vertical and horizontal load restrictions must be verified for the final installation.
