A 4x6 wood beam connects to an HSS column using a top plate with 3/4-inch diameter through-bolts and 1.5-inch washers. The wood beam sits above an HSS member with a 1/4-inch thick cap plate welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. The HSS column features a closure plate welded at the top and bottom with 3/16-inch fillet welds. Bolt spacing on the plate measures 1-1/2 inches from the edge, with 4-inch, 5-inch, and 4-inch intervals.
