A steel stair stringer bears onto a structural angle anchored to a thickened concrete slab on grade. The stringer consists of a steel channel secured with an L3x3x1/4 angle attached via a three-quarter-inch diameter by eight-inch anchor bolt at each stringer. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld is specified on three sides of the connection. The concrete slab on grade features a thickened footing zone measuring two feet wide typically, with reinforcing and a twelve-inch typical dimension.
