Cold-formed steel backing is fabricated from a 6-inch 14-gauge unpunched deep leg track spanning between vertical metal Cee studs. The track legs are cut and bent to form attachment tabs against the stud webs. Four number 10 self-tapping sheet metal screws with low-profile heads secure each end of the backing to the stud.
