Step five requires applying flashing membrane in a zigzag pattern to the L-angle, sill, four inches up the jambs, and around the sill rough opening. Step six instructs to immediately spread the flashing membrane with a putty knife to the sill and back angle, extending four inches up and around the jambs, and creating a one-and-a-half-inch border below the rough opening until all surfaces are completely covered and the substrate below is no longer visible at approximately twelve to fifteen wet mils.
