A fire-rated joint assembly occurs at the intersection of a concrete floor slab on metal deck and a wall partition. Mineral wool forming material is installed flush to adjacent surfaces within the joint gap. A spray-applied fire sealant is applied over the forming material with a minimum half-inch overlap on adjacent surfaces, omitted at non-rated assemblies. A scribe block is fitted to the beam and sealed at non-rated smoke assembly joints. A structural steel beam with spray-applied fireproofing is positioned beyond the joint assembly.
