This wall penetration detail features a ladder rung penetrating the exterior assembly with a complex multi-layer waterproofing system. Perm-A-Barrier Ultra self-adhered flashing is applied directly to the sheathing and stripped in at the top and sides of the collar flashing. A fluid-applied water-resistive barrier and a Tyvek Commercial Wrap D separator sheet provide additional weather protection. The joint around the penetration is sealed with sealant and a three-eighths-inch backer rod.
