This shaft wall assembly utilizes USG steel C-H studs to support one-inch thick Sheetrock gypsum liner panels. The assembly terminates at the perimeter wall using a USG steel J-runner, which is secured with fasteners spaced at twenty-four inches on center. The face of the shaft wall consists of multiple layers of Sheetrock gypsum panels, with a bead of sealant applied at the junction between the gypsum panels and the perimeter wall. The system is rated as a two-hour fire-rated assembly, identified as UL #438, with a maximum span of eight feet eleven inches for twenty-five gauge studs and eleven feet eight inches for twenty gauge studs.
