A double wood or metal stud wall assembly is separated by a one-inch air gap to prevent sound transmission. Batt insulation fills each stud cavity as specified in the architectural plans, while no bridging of any kind is allowed inside the one-inch gap. The partition layers are detailed to maintain complete acoustic and structural independence between adjacent spaces.
