A duct hanger strap is anchored to an 18-gauge, 1-1/2-inch metal deck with a HSB-36 wide profile and spray-applied fireproofing. The assembly includes a ballasted single-ply membrane roofing system over rigid insulation and 1/2-inch exterior gypsum board sheathing. New 2x2x16-gauge angles distribute the load from the hanger strap, which is secured using 1/4-inch Hilti Kwik-Pro SDS screws typical at the connection. The configuration supports a maximum load of 50 pounds when attached to two flutes and 100 pounds when attached to four flutes. Fireproofing must be patched and repaired at all new hanger locations according to the specified UL listing.
