This interior architectural detail constructs a cove-lit ceiling soffit using cold-formed metal framing and gypsum board. The vertical wall utilizes metal studs spaced at twenty-four inches on center maximum, with size and gauge matched to the wall framing per structural drawings. A smaller two-and-a-half-inch metal stud frames the cove lip and drop. The entire assembly is finished with Type X gypsum board, taped and finished smooth for a gloss paint finish. A fluorescent light fixture is concealed within the one-foot clearance of the cove pocket.
