A structural hollow structural section column is enclosed by a framed furred-out chase built with two-and-a-half-inch metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center maximum. The perimeter of the chase is finished with five-eighths-inch gypsum board on all four sides. The assembly is aligned to intersecting grid lines at the center of the column.
