A hanger wire connects to a metal stud wall assembly consisting of a three-and-five-eighths-inch by eighteen-gauge minimum steel stud with gypsum board finish. A twelve-gauge by one-inch wide by two-inch long steel strap fastens to the stud using one number-ten sheet metal screw. The hanger wire loops through the steel strap and wraps securely back onto itself.
