A duct or pipe passes through an acoustic wall assembly consisting of two layers of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board on each side of the studs. Sound attenuation batts are installed within the wall cavity to maintain acoustic performance. The annular space between the duct or pipe and the gypsum board is filled with non-hardening sealant to ensure an airtight seal.
