Two aligned structural steel columns connect via a three-quarter-inch splice plate fastened with four three-quarter-inch-diameter A325 high-strength bolts and two plug welds. The column flanges feature partial-penetration welds with a size of tf divided by two plus one-eighth inch. An enlarged callout detail shows the precise fit-up and weld root dimensions between the upper and lower column segments. A central lift hole is provided on the splice plate for erection positioning.
