A fire-rated floor-to-wall head joint assembly designated as UL number HW-D-0109 with a one- and two-hour assembly rating. The floor assembly consists of minimum four-and-one-half-inch or minimum two-and-one-half-inch structural concrete slabs. The partition assembly is constructed of rated concrete masonry units or six-inch minimum solid concrete. A joint gap of two inches maximum allows for twenty-five percent compression or extension. Mineral wool forming material is installed flush to adjacent surfaces within the joint. Spray-applied fire sealant with a minimum one-half-inch overlap is applied to adjacent surfaces and omitted at non-rated assemblies. Alternating bent steel plates are coordinated with structural requirements for size, spacing, and attachment.
