An HSS brace member connects to a wide-flange beam and wide-flange column using a five-eighths-inch gusset plate. The gusset plate is welded to the supporting members with fillet welds, including a three-eighths-inch weld at the beam-to-gusset interface and a quarter-inch weld typically spaced at six inches along the column. The brace framing intersects at a thirty-degree angle relative to the structural axis, maintaining a one-inch clearance typical at the joints. A shear tab with four bolts fastens the wide-flange beam web to the column flange. Additional HSS slot requirements are referenced on sheet S5.33.
