An HSS brace member frames into a 5/8-inch thick gusset plate that passes through an HSS column slot and connects to a 3/4-inch thick plate with six 7/8-inch diameter bolts. The gusset plate is welded to the HSS column and W-beam with 3/8-inch fillet welds, while the HSS brace member is welded with a 1/4-inch fillet weld and field weld symbol. A 3/8-inch stiffener plate is provided on each side of the W-beam web below the connection. The HSS column slot requirements are detailed elsewhere in the structural drawings.
