The partition wall terminates beneath a steel deck with a twenty-gauge long-leg deflection track that allows structural movement. Metal studs fit within the track and are faced with three-quarter-inch gypsum board cut to follow the contour of the underside of the deck. Seven-sixteenth-inch pan head framing screws attach the gypsum board to the stud while leaving the track unfastened for vertical deflection. Acoustic batt insulation fills the flutes of the deck, and continuous acoustic sealant is applied to each side at the gypsum board junction.
