A 3x3 by 5/16-inch hollow structural section steel post is anchored by a 3/8-inch thick steel base plate secured with 3/8-inch diameter anchor bolts. The base plate is dimensioned at 4 by 6 inches with edge clearances of 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch, aligned with the face of the stud. The post connects horizontally to continuous 2x3 by 5/16-inch tubing and an L2x3 by 5/16-inch angle. A 5/8-inch CDX plywood substrate overlies the top framing assembly.
