A concrete walk slab rests on a ninety percent compacted subgrade with a thickness designated as x. An expansion joint incorporates a one-half-inch felt expansion joint material with one-half-inch sealant on top and tooled one-quarter-inch radius edges. Number five smooth dowels measuring twenty-four inches long at twenty-four inches on center are wrapped with a bond breaker on one side. Six by six dash ten by ten welded wire mesh slab reinforcement discontinues at the expansion joint. A control joint features a one-quarter-deep saw cut with a width of one-eighth inch.
