A shaftwall system connects to a damper sleeve using a USG steel J-runner and a 1-1/2 inch by 1-1/2 inch by 16-gauge galvanized angle. The assembly is faced with one inch thick gypsum board liner panels type X on one side and two layers of five-eighths inch thick gypsum board liner panels type X on the other side. Fasteners secure the angle to the damper sleeve flange.
