A long-leg slotted deflection track anchors directly to the overhead roof deck, accommodating structural movement while securing the partition studs through the vertical slots. Gypsum board is left unfastened within the specified minimum screw clearance zone and top track to prevent binding during deflection. For walls running parallel to the deck ribs, a fourteen gauge plate is added at a maximum spacing of twelve inches with a one and a half inch cold rolled channel installed within twelve inches of the deflection track. At rated assemblies, fire safing insulation is packed into the flutes of the roof deck with retaining clips, complemented by an approved one-hour joint assembly consisting of fire safing insulation and fire sealant on both sides.
