A rectangular duct penetrates a framed gypsum board partition with a maximum one-half inch gap between the edge of the gypsum board and the duct frame opening. The assembly features partition hangers on each side of the partition. Joints are sealed with acoustical joint sealant at non-rated partitions or penetration firestopping at fire-rated partitions. An acoustic blanket insulation lines the duct within the opening.
