A utility pipe penetrates a cast-in-place concrete foundation wall through a cast or core-drilled hole. The annular space between the pipe and concrete opening is sealed with a mechanical pipe seal secured by through-bolts. The exterior face of the foundation wall is protected by a bentonite panel waterproofing layer and a foundation drainmat. Bentonite mastic is applied at the pipe interface with a six-inch minimum overlap. Non-shrink grout is applied where required, and the mechanical pipe seal manufacturer specifies the exact seal element and bolt type.
