Two hollow structural section beams meet at a corner joint with a three-eighths-inch cap plate welded to the top of the vertical member. An L4x4x1/2 angle measuring zero feet eleven inches serves as a seat angle on the column face to support the intersecting horizontal member. A one-half-inch plate measuring eight by eleven inches ties into the top flange of the beam. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the plates and angles at all indicated typical locations, maintaining a one-half-inch clearance and a three-and-a-half-inch maximum dimension.
