This bulkhead assembly consists of metal studs supporting five-eighths-inch gypsum board on the vertical faces and the horizontal soffit. The soffit includes five-eighths-inch plywood backing for structural rigidity. Metal edge trim is installed at all corners, which are then taped and finished. The assembly transitions to an acoustical ceiling at both sides, with the bottom of the acoustical ceiling positioned four inches above the bottom of the bulkhead soffit. Millwork is attached directly to the underside of the soffit.
