A splayed seismic brace wire connects to a wall stud at a forty-five-degree angle using a steel strap. The steel strap measures one inch wide by two inches long with a twelve gauge minimum thickness. A number eight self-tapping screw fastens the steel strap to a backing plate behind the stud web.
