A tree planted in a four-foot-deep structural soil pit set over existing subgrade or clean compacted fill. The five-foot-wide rootball sits within structural soil planting mix and is finished with decomposed granite paving flush with adjacent plaza pavement. The rootball crown is set two inches above the top of the planting soil and one-half inch above finish grade when planted in the decomposed granite pavement. General notes require scarifying the bottom and sides of all tree pits.
