An HSS beam connects to a supporting HSS member with a maximum one-half inch gap. A pair of L4x4x1/2 by zero-foot-six-inch angles are positioned on each side, centered on the HSS centerline. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the angles to the members at the top and bottom typically.
