This non-rated thermal partition consists of parallel rows of metal studs maintaining a one-inch minimum clear separation space. Each stud row is framed with four-inch batt thermal insulation and finished with one layer of one-half-inch homasote and one layer of gypsum board on each side. A building wrap is applied on the exterior side, and lateral stud bracing is provided as required without rigid cross bracing between the stud rows.
