A jamb and boxed header assembly is designed for head openings ranging from eight to twelve feet in clear width using cold-formed steel framing. The vertical jamb consists of a stud nested inside a track, flanked by infill studs and a metal stud framed per the wall type shown on plan. A boxed header constructed from a six-inch steel joist in a base track is supported at the jamb by a support angle and a six-inch long piece of stud. Additional attachment at the jamb base track provides increased structural capacity for wider openings.
