A deep leg runner with a minimum three-inch leg is anchored to the underside of the floor or roof metal deck. The metal deck flutes are filled with fire safing insulation. Five-eighths-inch gypsum board layers are extended into the metal deck flutes and anchored to the deep leg runner with a runner track slip clip, while remaining unattached to the wall studs below. Acoustical or firestop sealant is provided at each side. Five-eighths-inch gypsum board is anchored to the metal wall studs up to one inch from the deep leg runner.
