An electric hand dryer mounts directly to the wall finish over a concealed sheet metal backing plate. The unit is secured using four number twelve sheet metal screws anchored into the wall backing. Acoustical sealant is applied continuously at the perimeter joint between the hand dryer housing and the wall finish. The projection from the finished wall surface is limited to a maximum of four inches.
