A polished concrete topping slab is cast over a concrete structural slab with a variable thickness. A saw-cut control joint is located in the topping slab per plan, featuring a joint width between one-eighth inch maximum and one-fourth inch minimum. The joint is finished with a backer rod and sealant at the surface.
