This assembly manages the gap between a stair stringer and an adjacent partition or vertical wall surface. A continuous one-quarter inch by one-inch steel bar is welded to the face of the stair stringer to bridge the space. The remaining joint between the steel bar and the wall is filled with a backer rod and sealant. The maximum allowable gap between the stringer assembly and the adjacent wall is three-quarters of an inch.
