A 3-5/8 inch by 18-gauge minimum cold-formed steel stud supports a gypsum board wall assembly. A 6-inch by 16-gauge track section spans at least two studs and fastens with three number-10 self-tapping sheet metal screws to each stud. A 12-gauge by 3-inch wide by 4-inch long steel strap connects to the track with two number-12 self-tapping sheet metal screws. A bracing wire secures to the steel strap, angled at a maximum of 45 degrees.
