An eighth-inch by five-inch deep metal edging is secured with sixteen-inch long metal support stakes spaced twelve inches on center. The top of the edging is installed flush with the mulch finish grade. Amended planting soil depth varies over the subgrade or base material. At stone mulch pavement, the metal edging is staked on the outside edge opposite the pavement. One-inch weep holes are provided three inches from the top of the metal edging at five feet on center when the edging is adjacent to buildings.
