A concrete walk with a thickened edge is supported on compacted soil over natural grade with an eight inch wide thickened footer extending down to two times minimum thickness. Expansion joints or control joints are provided at twelve feet each way, with finish grade set one inch at sod and one and one half inches at ground cover. The concrete edge features a tooled one half inch radius edge, and below slab preparation must follow recommendations from the soils report.
